Plan a local collection drive!

Hello students of Connecticut!

As your 2017 Connecticut’s Kid Governor®, I am committed to helping animals, those without a voice.

Did you know that nearly every town in our state has a local pound or animal shelter? Did you know that many of these places rely on donations from community members like us to help animals in need?

As part of my three-point platform, I am asking YOU to join me in holding collection drives in our schools to support our furry friends in local pounds and shelters. Because April is  Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month, spring is the perfect time to hold a drive.

I have created a Collection Drive Planning Worksheet which will help you plan a collection drive in 8 easy steps. I hope you will hold a drive of your own and email me at to tell me what you plan and how it goes. Schools that participate will receive a “shout out” on my blog.

Let’s show that kids across the state can help animals in our communities!
